Do You Bank At The Natwest? Read On…

March 18, 2009 by Ian

It would appear that the Natwest have inadvertantly shot themselves in the foot over a recent snippet of editorial I saw in their “Sense” magazine, a free giveaway available in your local branch.

The magazine itself is described as a magazine that “helps you get the most out of your money” and on page 70 starts a feature on how to celebrate on a budget.  It tells you that the average wedding cost in 2008 topped £20,000 but they will show you how to do it for much less.  Here are some of the hilights…

Get a snap happy friend to take the official photo’s and provide your guests with disposable cameras.  If you book a professional, do it for just a few hours rather than the whole day.

A live band is always a crowd pleaser, but you can cut your costs by hiring a soloist or a pianist which is less expensive as there’s only one person to pay at the end of the night.

A fun and low cost idea is the hire a karaoke machine and let your guests provide their own entertainment.

The most busget friendly option of all is to create your own playlist and use your MP3 player – you’re guaranteed to enjoy all of the songs and find something to fill the dancefloor.

So, in just a few paragraphs they’ve probably managed to annoy a wide section of wedding day suppliers, not just photographers and DJ’s as shown above.  Just how widely read this magazine is i’m not sure, there are no ABC figures but if you bank at the Natwest, maybe speak to your business manager that you are less than happy with some of the comments written.  In these hardened enconomic times we need to be able to trust our banks to support companies, not offer their clients ways of snubbing our services in favour of saving a few quid.

For your information by the way, Abbey are offering free business banking forever right now as long as you fit in with their criteria.
