Denon Succumbs To Lefties

April 1, 2009 by Ian

We’ve been sitting on this news for some time but we cannot keep it to ourselves any longer.  Due to worldwide pressure from left-handed DJ’s Denon will be launching a special edition “left-handed” version of their brand new mixer, the DN-X1100LH.  Based on the original design, the microphone and main output sections have been swapped over and the channels have been relabeled right to left.  Here’s a sneaky pic of the mixer in question…

We spoke to Silvio Zeppier, Denon DJ Brand Manager who told us

For years Denon have been at the forefront of DJ technology and whilst other manufacturers are quite happy to continue developing their products for a right-handed world, we have listened to our users and are happy to develop products that they can use without being forced to DJ right-handed.

He went on to say…

And it doesn’t stop there, we are looking at ways we can improve our existing range of professional DJ products to make them easier for use in the left-handed market.  It is approximated that 10% of the worlds’ population is left-handed and every day “lefties” have to endure living in a right-handed world.  It is an issue being taken seriously by industry.  Stationery shops are selling left-handed pens and pencils, rulers and scissors.  Other left-handed products out there include keyboards, digital cameras, tin openers, tape measures and more, so why not?  Let’s corner the market!

Silvio would not discuss specific products but it could herald the release of a left-handed HD2500, DN4000 and more!  Watch this space!
