DJ Support website launches
Added: July 30, 2009
UK WIDE, July 28th, 2009 – This week, DJ Support launched their new
website at www.djsupport.co.uk which features a FREE online DJ
availability calendar, to locate all DJs available in a specific area on a
given date.
“We have just rolled out the new calendar, and feedback from our users
has been very positive” said Mark Davies, Co-Founder of DJ Support
and NADJ committee member. “Both the leading DJ organisations are
fully behind us, with both NADJ & SEDA recommending it to their
memberships.
With the Swine Flu pandemic spreading across the UK, this resource
will be a valuable tool to ensure clients are confident they will get a DJ,
and the booked DJs reputation is kept intact.
The UK DJ Community now have a free resource to use, as a form of
insurance, to cover them in case of emergency. Each DJs availability is
clearly visible using the online calendar, with their contact details.
Registration is free, and allows population of and full access to the
calendar. There is also a section where both Manufacturers & DJs can
upload and download user manuals and other useful written material, in
order to have a central database of information available to the DJ
industry.
With this move, DJ Support hopes to help support the UK DJ
Community by providing a central database of both DJs in an
emergency, and information to help them run their business.
Working with both NADJ & SEDA as well as the various online forums
and smaller groups of DJs, they hope to bring everyone together, and
help to promote and assist UK DJs.
Visit the website at http://www.djsupport.co.uk for full information and free
registration
DJ Support Press Release
Numark – Summer Namm Overload!
Added: July 17, 2009
Numark really have gone to town at Summer Namm, they issued nine press releases yesterday about all sorts of new items of equipment.
I’m going to attempt to distill the information down into one page but have a look here for more information.
There are some great images of all of the new items accesable from here.
In what appears to be direct replacements for the aging CDMix2 and CDMix3 they’ve released updated versions of both including their own bespoke case. I do wonder though if they’ve improved the airflow over the old case as the current case doesn’t allow enough heat to escape with some serious modifications.
PERFORM ALL IN ONE WITH CD AND iPOD WITH iCDMIX 2
iCDMIX 2 is a dual CD player and a three-channel mixer with Universal Dock for iPod, iPod channel, and mic channel, all in a single, portable, rugged unit. Setup and teardown are fast and easy with iCDMIX 2 because you don’t spend as much time running cables and testing levels as with traditional component setups.
PLAY AND MIX MP3, CD, AND IPOD WITH iCDMIX 3
Play virtually any format, and mix… all in one unit! iCDMIX 3 combines a dual-deck, multi-format MP3/CD player with a three-channel mixer that includes an iPod dock with its own channel, a mic channel and a full compliment of inputs. You can play gigs with just this one box for record-setting setup and teardown time.
PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT WITH CDMIX CASE 3
CDMIX CASE 3 is a custom case designed for protecting and tr
ansporting any member of the CDMIX series of mobile-DJ systems. You can use CDMIX CASE 2 with CDMIX 1, iCDMIX 2, iCDMIX 3, KMX02, CDMIX 2, and CDMIX 3.
Then they’ve released two new budget desktop CD players, with the USB enabled NXD400 looking particularly nice. Richard from Numark is at Sunday’s ShowNight and I’ll shall be speaking with him to try and find out their RRP.
NDX200 is a scratch CD player with a heavy, rugged build and a large scratch wheel for comfortable performance. Numark’s Anti-Shock™ buffered skip-protection technology keeps music playing, even when vibrations might cause other players to skip.
SCRATCH CD, MP3, AND USB DRIVES WITH NDX400
NDX400 is a slot-loading scratch MP3/CD player that can also play from a USB stick for forward-looking performance. NDX400 has advanced braking for vinyl-style stopping of playback, and a reverse mode that enables you to incorporate even more special vinyl effects.
Next up we have two new rack mountable twin CD Players with the MP3 capable CDN450 looking rather nice as well.
RELIABLE, SKIP-RESISTANT CDN55 IS THE WORRY-FREE CHOICE
CDN55 is a rock-solid, professional rack-mount CD player. This dual-deck unit plays traditional CDs and CD-Rs and gives you the worry-free performance of Anti-Shock™ buffered skip protection. CDN55 is designed for the working professional who relies on their CD player or needs a no-fail backup player.
SCRATCH AND LOOP WITH CDN450 RACK-MOUNT DUAL MP3/CD PLAYER
Need a no-nonsense, CD, CD-R, and MP3 CD player for professional performance? This ultra-reliable player is packed with features such as text display, Anti-Shock™ electronically buffered skip protection, scratching, and seamless looping.
They’ve also release details of a DJ ready laptop stand, new coloured vynyl for the NS7 and an RCA to USB converter box called Stereo|iO.

Unfortunately we do (very rarely) get serial visitors who claim they see no value in joining but would like to attend the ShowNights. We feel that the ShowNights are one of our members favourite benefits and therefore as a general rule would expect someone that wanted to attend on a regular basis to join the association (As a guide we would not expect a visitor to attend more than 2 ShowNights).

ProDub – 1 Year On
Added: July 2, 2009
It has now been a year since ProDub (Professional Dubbing Licence) was launched and to coincide with it’s first birthday a new pricing tier has been announced for existing licence holders.
The “ProDub Top-Up” priced at £100 will cover DJ’s and other acts for upto 1,000 copies and is only available to existing licence holders. DJ’s looking to purchase ProDub for the first time will not be eligibile to the top-up until they have held their licence for a year. If you think that you will exceed 1,000 copies then you should purchase the next available tier which is £250.00 for upto 5,000 copies.
Other improvements to the scheme include a shiny card issued to all existing licence holders. These are reportedly going out in the post this week so if you get one, please let us know!
The PDF licence you receive also gets a facelift in that the wording “expiry date” is removed from the licence and your licence does not ever expire. Once you have bought the right to produce copies of your originally owned music, those copies are licenced for life, assuming you fall within ProDub’s T&C’s.
ProDub licencees are assured that the money they invest in the ProDub licence goes directly to the artist (except the small %’age that gets taken up in admin fees).
For more information on ProDub, please visit their website – http://www.produb.co.uk
SEDA DMX Seminar
Added: July 1, 2009
On Sunday 28 June 2009 SEDA held their first DJ seminar.
The seminar focused on the subject of DMX and aimed to give you an overview of what it is and how we as DJs can use it.
The evening was very competently presented by Will Perkins and his team from Virtual Sights. It was also well attended with over 20 DJs turning up to learn more about DMX.
For more information about the seminar check out this months SEDA mail.
The next seminar we have planned is going to tackle the mysteries of mixing.
Keep an eye on your emails for more details.
