CD Pool Hits – May 2010
Added: May 20, 2010
The very latest Hits disc from CD Pool landed with a thud on my doorstep this morning and what a great lineup!
There are some really good songs on there including the current (at the time of writing) number one single. How they missed that one out on promo release is beyond me! But anyway, here it is (and it beats waiting for Now 76). Look at Track 20 though…what’s that all about?
ShowNight Success
Added: May 17, 2010
So here I am fresh for a nice stay at the Village Hotel. It’s the day after the night before and what a totally amazing ShowNight it was last night! We had another fantastic attendance from our Membership who came along to see RSD, Denon, Mastermix, Glosticks, TopLite and more! We congratulated long-standing SEDA Member Robbie Earl on his new appointment as Secretary of the NADJ and we also congratulated our own Chairman, Paul Forsyth for becoming a Grandad for the third time that very afternoon!
Richard from Mastermix drove all the way from Rotherham with a car-full of CD’s at incredibly cheap prices so we thank Richard for his commitment and look forward to seeing him again soon.
As a SEDA first, we auctioned off some speakers that had been in Paul Forsyth’s van for waaaaay too long. The (unfortunate) winner was David Wimble from Allied Entertainments who no doubt will use them as furniture or as part of a future magic trick or something. It’s just s shame our Chairman couldn’t make them disappear out of the back of his van!
Anyway, enough ramble, take a look at the piccies!
NADJ AGM & Trade Show 2010
Added: April 19, 2010
The National Association of Disc Jockeys annual knees up is THIS SUNDAY and instead of being at it’s usual motorcycle museum location they’ve shifted it top Gloucestershire which has the added benefit of being next to a country theme park which is great for the kiddies. What this means for you is that whilst you’re being geeky and nerdy with your NADJ buddies, your Wife and kids in tow can “have it large” in the theme park – everyone’s a winner, Yeehaa!
The best news of all is that SEDA members get in for absolutely free, all you need to do is present your membership card on the day and they will open up the barrier for you.
So, I guess you want to know what’s there? As well as the formality of the AGM there will be chance for you to mix and mingle with a pretty amazing cacophony of retailers and manufacturers all looking to milk you of the very last coppers you have left over from the thousands you earned over Christmas. It’s not all that bad though, there are some pretty amazing products out there right now (including the ShowTec Acrobat LED moving head video we’ve now added to the website on the homepage!) and loads of reasons to drive over to Gloucester.
We could list them all here but it would take forever to do that so instead, why not meander over to the NADJ AGM & Trade Show website to get the full story!
Now 75
Added: April 19, 2010
The very latest in the popular Now That’s What I Call Music series has been released. Now in it’s 75th incarnation it absolutely promises to be a very worthwhile addition to anyone’s collection if only to say that you have every Now album ever released! Here’s the tracklist from the back cover…

NADJ AGM & TradeShow
Added: February 22, 2010
The NADJ AGM & Tradeshow takes place this year on Sunday, 25th April but not at the Motorcycle Museum as in previous years but at a purpose-built banqueting and conference facility in Gloucestershire called the The Barn Function Centre (www.thebarnfunctioncentre.co.uk).
Many exhibitors and retailers have already signed up to appear at the Show; Bose, Denon, PCDJ, Prolight, CD Pool, RCF, Dragonspirit, DMC and more! For more information on who will be attending, NADJ have set up a tradeshow website which you will find at www.nadjtradeshow.com.
In an effort to make this show completely different to all others, the NADJ Committee have decided to make the show “family friendly” by negotiating a special deal with the Cattle Country Adventure Theme Park (www.cattlecountry.co.uk) next door. All entrants to the Tradeshow also get entry to the theme park which in itself represents a massive saving, so whilst you’re looking for your next set of speakers or CD players, the wife and kids can have a great time as well!
The NADJ Committee are also looking to incorporate the very popular bring and buy idea into their show, this is a very popular item at SEDA ShowNights and always goes down well.
Entry to the Tradeshow and Theme Park is free of course to NADJ members and the NADJ committee have extended their very kind offer of free entry to those SEDA members who produce their SEDA membership cards on the day.
As if that wasn’t a good enough reason to go to the show, if you pre-register for tickets on the Tradeshow website the very nice men and women at CD Pool will send you a free CD in the post! There’s also talk of a NADJ aftershow party, your chance to large it up and throw shapes on the dancefloor with all of your DJ mates!

SEDA ShowNight GO!
Added: January 14, 2010
A small committee meeting the other night resulted in the decision that despite the snow, the first 2010 gathering of SEDA members on the 17th January WILL go ahead as planned!
We poured over sheets and sheets of meteorological evidence, checked out an monitored the paths of several weather formations, hurricanes and other umm stuff like that. In a nutshell, it’s going to rain…a bit…we think but there’ll be no snow.
See you on Sunday!
NAMM 2010 – New Toys!
Added: January 14, 2010
As I expected, a huge number of new toys are on show at the Namm 2010 Show. Here’s a very basic rundown of what’s new so far…
NUMARK
- Numark NDX-800 – MP3/CD/USB and MIDI controller. Think of it to be something like the Denon DN-S1200 but with a 7″ platter.
- Numark MIXDECK – The MIXDECK is a junior version of the NS7. It basically comprises of a pair of NDX-800’s with a little mixer in the middle with the added benefit of an iPod dock. It comes with, like the NDX-800, Traktor Numark Edition.
- Numark V7 – Ok, now take an NS7 and with a chainsaw cut off one of the decks. The small bit you cut off is a V7. A bigger version of the NDX-800 but also an ITCH controller. It also features the effects and so on found on the NS7.
- Numark X7 - Ideally suited to sit twixt a pair of V7’s it’s basically a 4ch version of the 2ch mixer you see on the NS7 with a few more bits thrown in for good measure! It’s still currently under development and hopes to set the world alight when it’s released some time later this year. Will it have the Pioneer 800 owners quaking in their boots? Probably not, but the V7 and X7 is aimed directly at CDJ owners.
DENON
- DN-X1600 – Take the luxurious DN-X1700 that is crammed with uber-brilliant DJ’ing technology and offload some of it. Add V-LINK (a kind of MIDI interface for video devices) and ta-daaaah!
- …and that’s it…for now!
BEHRINGER
- VMX1000USB – It’s basically an updated version of the popular VMX1000 although probably (and hopefully) better built. Click on the provided link to find out what it does…it’s quite feature packed and may tempt those who are currently looking at DENON to replace the X500 with a USB model.
More news as it comes in from our SEDA News Hound in Anaheim.
SEDA ShowNight 17th Jan
Added: January 6, 2010
The Committee are working exceptionally hard to bring you the best ever SEDA ShowNight. As we’ve already posted above, Clive’s Mobile DJ Show in Lacey Green has already been postponed due to the bad weather but we’ve been praying hard in the hope that Mother Nature takes notice.
Just a reminder that Rik from Pioneer hopes to be there with the brand new CDJ players, the 900 and the 2000 so you can all have a play. Gary from Denon will also be there to answer any questions you may have about the new Denon kit on display at Namm 2010, the definitive geek-DJ Tech festival in the US of A.
KAM will be there with some new kit, noticably (and hopefully) their new range of lasers including the Ultimate Cluster and the Gobo Cluster. If you notice, we’ve changed the featured video of the month to show off the Ultimate Cluster which personally I think looks like a fantastic unit, priced at around £199. It is also my hope the nice man from KAM will bring with him the new KPM200DSP, a brand new 19″ rack mixer featuring 8 on board channel effects. Probably going to be favoured by Karaoke jocks, it’s a 4 channel + 1 mic channel mixer allowing 4 line inputs and 3 mic inputs.
RCF and Mastermix will also be there to show off their latest products and our brand new guest retailer, RSD Sound & Music will help relieve you of all that hard earned christmas cash you have burning a hole in your wallet!
If buying pre-built speakers isn’t to your liking and you want more control over the look and build of your sound system, Tony Wilkes from Speakerplans and Matt will be on hand to show you some DIY speakers and just what can be achieved with a hammer, saw and some wood glue!
See you there!
