[...] Did you know that there any organisations and associations that represent DJs and mobile discos? One example of such a body is SEDA (South-east England DJ Associate), this is an organisation which we belong to. There are certain standards which members must comply with in order to join, all of which should help give you peace of mind knowing that the entertainer upholds a high level of professionalism. To have a look at SEDAs code of conduct click here. [...]

That Novation Launchpad is really interesting, and excellent value. I would still use a 4 channel mixer with it, so the mixing level thing you describe is not going to be a problem for me. I may well ask father xmas for one of those hehe... I will put up a post about the Novation Launchpad soon.
Cheers,
Brian

Interestingly, I had a demo of this at the Apple store in Brighton a few days ago alongside the Novation Launchpad. Personally I found the APC40 the better of the two controllers due to the fact that mixing levels were easier to deal with on the APC40 as there are a bank of faders to play with. On the launchpad product, you have to flick it into Mixer mode and then remember another keypress then try to remember which channel (or bank) you want to increase the volume for and tap the pads accordingly. The Launchpad does win though hands down on size, so a 13" Macbook Pro and a Launchpad will fit quite nicely into a small laptop bag whereas the APC40 is a bit of a beastie!
