PIONEER DJ LAUNCH THE HDJ-500 HEADPHONE SERIES

Pioneer continues to make life better for the up and coming DJ with the release of their new entry-level headphones, the HDJ-500. The latest member of their ever-evolving series is the epitome of style and sleek design and for the first time is available in three distinct colours red, black or white. Designed to be as usable in the club as they are at home or on the go, the HDJ-500 is set to invigorate the headphone market.

Renowned for their great sound and durability, Pioneer headphones have always been a hit with DJs. The new HDJ-500 fully utilises the research and technology of Pioneer’s flagship model, the HDJ-2000, to offer both style and substance in a lightweight design.

The HDJ-500 is sound engineered to strongly reproduce the low and mid level frequencies needed for accurately monitoring dance music when DJing. It reproduces a rich low-range and increases the sound pressure by utilising Pioneers newly developed 40 mm diameter driver unit and by narrowing the ear pad opening, giving you crystal clear sound, whatever your needs. With its rotating arm structure, the HDJ-500 is also completely adaptable to any DJing style. As it is capable of sliding 60 degrees to the right, with a flexible headband, it enables DJs to listen with just one ear leaving the other exposed to the monitor speakers and crowd reactions.

The HDJ-500 emulates the design of Pioneer’s professional DJ headphones but comes in three brand new colours. Added to that, the streamlined hanger enables you to distinguish the left and right sides of the headphones while at work in the booth. Away from the club, if you want to listen to music on the go, the HDJ-500 also comes with an interchangeable short cord that plugs into the side of the headphones. This cord is 1m long whilst there is also a 3m-long cord to give you that much need space to move whilst DJing.

Top sound quality and style are no longer reserved solely for professional level DJs, but are now available to anyone who wants to get the most out of their dance music.

1) Clearly reproduces low-mid range sound that DJs need such as kick and snare drums

Reproduces a rich low-range and increases the sound pressure by utilising our newly developed 40 mm diameter driver unit, which uses a rare-earth super magnet and by narrowing the ear pad opening. Furthermore, by adopting the thickest diaphragm ever at 19mm (micrometers) and a copper clad aluminium wire (CCAW) voice coil, the headphones reproduce the clear lowmid range sounds necessary for DJ mixing, such as snare and kick drum sounds, which enables DJs to readily pick out the tempo of the music.

2) Compatible with various DJ monitoring styles

The headphones enable various DJ monitoring style by employing a rotating arm structure that allows it to slide to about 60 degrees to the right of the housing via the flexible headband we created that maintains side pressure, allowing DJs to listen with just one ear, freeing up the other for monitoring the track in place as well as the crowd reactions.

3) Uses an interchangeable side-mount cord that doesnt hinder DJ movement

We adopted an interchangeable cord that plugs into one side of the headphones so it doesnt hinder movement when DJing. The headphones come with a 1.2 m coiled cord (extends to about 3m) and a 1m straight cord, which can be used for different purposes and sceneswhether listening to music out on the town or whilst DJing.

4) Emulates the design of professional DJ headphones

We created a simple and stylish design that emulates the flagship HDJ-2000 model. The streamlined hanger makes it a snap to distinguish the left and right sides of the headphones.

Ultrasone Edition 8 headphones

Did somebody mention a recession? Well the German techs at Ultrasone obviously don’t think there is one.

Checking out what’s new on the web today and I’ve found out that they’ve just announced that they are releasing there new headphones, the Edition 8s, for the princely sum of $1499.00 now I am not sure what that’ll mean they will cost in the UK but I doubt you’ll get much change from £1500.00.

Utilising technology called S-Logic Plus, which, as the Ultrasone press release puts it, offers an “impartial acoustic feeling that allows the listener even more of a spacious tonal perception”, uses Ethiopian sheepskin covering oiver the interior of the ear cups and covers the the outer ones in Ruthenium, whatever that is?

Here are some other, more basic features of these headphones: 30 Ohm impedance, 40 mm driver size (plated with Titanium), NdFeB magnet, 6 to 42.000 Hz frequency range, 6 db SPL, 260g weight, 1.2m USC cord length, 4m USC extension cable length, ULE technology. Oh, and the 3.5/6.3mm adapter is gold plated, as well as the 3.5mm plugs.
